Management Accountant

Castlegate James has been helping Australian and New Zealand farmers and animal nutritionists achieve optimum livestock production targets through a range of high performance, specialty co– product stock feeds. Castlegate James products are mainly directed at the ruminant feed market, dairy and beef cattle, sheep, and goats.

This role is based in Tullamarine. Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the General Manager – Operations, the position is to provide management accounting to the business, with particular focus on Cost Accounting, Inventory management, Fixed Asset management and variance analysis for the Manufacturing Division.

To be successful Candidate will:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cost Accounting: Implement and operate a Standard Costing system for the Manufacturing Division.
• Creation and Analysis of Bill of Materials: Maintaining knowledge of routings, collecting data from manufacturing sites, calculation of Standard Costs.
• Cost Reduction: Recommend cost reduction initiatives and strategies based on analysis of raw material purchases, manufacturing methods and other services.
• Variance reporting: Monthly variance reporting on direct material, labour and manufacturing overheads. Provide insights between actuals compared to standard.
• Management reporting: Monthly management reporting including providing commentary and specifying and comparing factors affecting costs and profitability.
• Develop management reports as necessary using system report writing tools or other PC applications.
• Inventory Control: Monitor and reconcile inventory and manage the EOM count and confirmation process, including oversee Inventory Valuation.
• Fixed Assets: Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register, depreciation, physical counts of fixed assets, CAPEX reporting.

• Strong Analytical skills.
• Accuracy, attention to detail and a high level of problem-solving ability.
• Ability to manage own workload while working towards deadlines.
• High skill level in Microsoft Office (in particular Microsoft Excel)
• Can adapt to using different ERP and supporting software and develop system reports.
• Strong verbal & written communication skills, including the ability to persuade, negotiate and resolve conflict.
• Experience with MS Dynamics 365 (desirable)
• Possess a valid drivers license as Site visits will be mandatory.

Your experience profile will include:

• At least 5 years management & cost accounting experience incorporating analysis and problem-solving principles within a medium to larger organisation.
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of Management & Cost accounting reporting.
• Demonstrated successful experience in a similar role in a Finance and Administration team, including the implementation and maintenance of procedures and processes.
• Experience in Stock Management and inventory control by liaising with manufacturing operation.
• Exposure to multi-site operations, manufacturing operations, preferably within the Agricultural sector.
• Exceptional commercial acumen and Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse data and formulate actions based on data.
• Strong Database or BI systems experience desirable.

To be considered for this role, you will be tertiary qualified in Accounting. CPA/CA qualified (preferred)
