The School

The Role
We are seeking to appoint a Career Practitioner, a specialist teacher who will support the career development of students. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers with an interest in student career pathways. Our Career Practitioner will ideally work with the school leadership team and embed career development and industry linked activities into curricular and co-curricular programs. The successful applicant will ideally have a teaching load of at least 0.4 FTE and up to 0.6 FTE.

Career Practitioners will ideally be innovators and have the ability to work collaboratively across a school. They will implement programs and provide resources to embed career development across learning areas. We are looking for a teacher that enjoys working with students to help them imagine and connect with their future career aspirations. Confidence to make decisions and enact necessary curriculum reform will be essential attributes for the role. Teachers in this specialist role will Ideally also need to be competent in the interpretation and analysis of system and school-based data.

To be competitive for this role, a high level of knowledge about the diversity of career pathways, with an understanding of tertiary entrance contexts, local employers, community agencies and training providers is desirable.  Career Practitioners are also expected to have strong communication skills and be able to liaise with and share information easily with students, staff, parents, and local industry.

If you don't hold a recognised Graduate Certificate in Career Development, you will be willing to complete a qualification - which will be funded by the Department. Time will be made available for the successful applicant to complete the qualification, and study will be incorporated into the role in the first 12 months. If you already hold an equivalent qualification, recognition of prior learning may be possible
