What We Do

South West Fire is a Collie-based business, designing, manufacturing and repairing custom fire appliances for DBCA, DFES, local government, mining and private industry.  As our customer base grows so does our workload— and we need talented tradespeople to help us deliver high-quality results.

About the Role

We're expanding our team and currently seeking a Vehicle Body Builder / Fit Out Assembly team member to join us in our Collie workshop.

In this role you will be involved in the assembly and placement of components onto fire trucks and as such, some automotive mechanical and electrical knowledge is also desirable

This is a permanent full-time opportunity offering competitive pay and the chance to work on exciting new builds and upgrades for specialised vehicles.

We're looking for candidates with experience in:

  • Fabricating custom vehicle bodies and components
  • Working with Aluminium, Sheet Metal, and Stainless Steel (light to medium duty)
  • Operating hydraulic presses and guillotines
  • MIG/TIG welding of Aluminium and Stainless Steel
  • Folding and cutting materials to specification
  • Using handheld tools for shaping, welding, bolting, and cutting
  • Installation of plumbing pipework to fire appliances
  • Custom cab fit-outs
  • Assembly and installation of fire appliance body components

Highly Regarded (but not essential)

  • Australian-recognised trade qualification in Vehicle Body Building
