Job Description

We're on the lookout for a Data Centre Projects & Systems Manager to join us. You'll be managing across multiple programs, leading a team of Project Commissioning Officers to roll out system integration, modernisation, and renewal projects across the data centre portfolio.  

You'll also lead technical project teams, roll out new systems and applications, replace legacy BMS/CSMS setups with modern solutions, and integrate emerging technologies into existing environments.

In this role you will:  

  • Lead and develop a team of Project Commissioning Officers through mentoring, performance management, resource allocation, development planning, and participate in hiring decisions.  
  • Develop and execute program roadmaps, lead complex BMS/CSMS replacements and new application deployments, manage project portfolios across facilities, and oversee budgets, vendors, and stakeholder engagement.  
  • Oversee deployment of new systems, replacement of legacy BMS/CSMS, and complex multi-system integration. Conduct technology evaluations, develop enterprise standards, and ensure regulatory and security compliance.  
  • Drive process improvements, mentor team members, maintain documentation, and promote continuous improvement through retrospectives and optimisation initiatives.  
  • Stay abreast of facility engineering advancements and implement relevant improvements. Undertake additional tasks as directed by the Head of Field Engineering.  
  • Ensure all project work is delivered with an understanding of data centre operational priorities, including uptime risk, change control, redundancy (N/N+1/2N), environmental SLAs, and maintenance windows. 
  • Stay abreast of data centre engineering advancements (HVAC, power systems, automation, monitoring) and implement relevant improvements. 

About You 

Essential 

  • Direct experience working within live data centre or mission-critical facilities (e.g., healthcare, telco, financial trading) with strong knowledge of operating environments, risks, redundancy models, and SLA constraints. 
  • Proven ability to deliver projects in operationally sensitive environments, balancing technical requirements with uptime, compliance, and customer impact. 
  • Expertise in DCIM, BMS, CSMS, EPMS, HVAC, electrical/mechanical infrastructure, and automation systems. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, stakeholders, and vendors for programs valued over $2 million. 
  • Strong people management skills, with experience leading technical and project delivery teams. 

Desirable 

  • Familiarity with networking, security systems, cloud/hybrid infrastructure integration. 
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, data analytics tools, and financial processes. 
  • Background in enterprise technology integration, standards development, and regulatory compliance. 
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and executive reporting skills. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field.  
  • In-depth understanding of data center facility engineering and critical systems infrastructure. 
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical, mechanical, and control systems relevant to data center environments. 
  • Demonstrated hands-on knowledge and experience working with chillers, CRAC units, UPS systems, generators and other related critical equipment and systems 
  • 8+ years in data centre, or infrastructure management  
  • 5+ years in technical team leadership  
  • 5+ years managing complex system projects, including BMS/CSMS replacements  

Preferred:  

  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar certification  
  • Advanced degree or MBA  
  • Agile/Scrum experience  
  • Experience in change management and governance documentation (highly desirable)
