With strong growth experienced within the business and forecasted future growth in the construction and infrastructure sector as well as within the business, we are seeking a finance leader to support the business in the next phase of growth.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO/Director, as the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance function. Accountable for the financial processes of the business, including commercial and operational support where required. Highly varied role in terms of tasks, jurisdictions, and functional business areas. Our organisation is looking for someone who can work closely with staff at all levels and is a self-starter, proactive and excited to be accountable to be the financial leader of the business. The person taking up this role will be able to think big picture but also be willing to roll up their sleeves when required to help at a transactional level.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ownership for producing an accurate and timely end-of-month result, including commentary.

  • Management of risk, including insurance/risk register.

  • Ownership/maintenance of assets/stock control, including stock takes.

  • Management of IT/Systems/Phones.

  • Review of balance sheet and profit and loss.

  • Financial forecasting and budgets.

  • Financial reporting and KPI dashboards.

  • Supporting tender submissions.

  • Preparation of tax return information.

  • Assisting with commercial/legal reviews.

  • Commercial analysis.

  • Purchasing.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory filings and payments.

  • Preparation/review of weekly payroll and payroll-related compliance.

  • Cash flow reporting/forecasting.

  • Continuous improvements and challenging existing procedures and controls.

About You

To be successful in this role:

  • 2–3 years' experience in a similar role.

  • Professional accounting qualifications (ideally, but experience counts).

  • Advanced level of Microsoft Office skills, in particular Excel.

  • Strong financial reporting and tax experience.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

  • Previous experience with or knowledge of payroll processes is highly desirable.

  • Ability to identify trends, opportunities, and innovative ways to add value to the business.

  • A proven ability to use initiative and work with a minimum of supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.

  • MYOB (Ideally, but Zero/QuickBooks or others would be acceptable).

  • Individually accountable for getting the tasks completed.
