Port Maintenance Supervisor

Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Port Maintenance Supervisor for the Karara Export Terminal, responsible for providing ongoing maintenance supervision and technical guidance to a team of Mechanical Maintenance personnel.

The Supervisor ensures all equipment is maintained to prescribe standards in order to maximise equipment utilisation and maintain desired productivity and output levels.

This role is a residential Geraldton based position and operates on a 5 days on 3 days off, 4 days on 2 days off continuous day shift roster.

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

• Trade qualification in mechanical, engineering or electrical maintenance
• WA 'C' Class Drivers' License
• Schedule 26 Statutory Supervisor
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in a Supervisory or 2IC position leading small to medium sized teams
• Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of fixed plant maintenance and experience with generic process plant policies and procedures
• Proven ability to undertake problem solving investigations and reviews with an ability to plan work in line with predicted operational requirements
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills with basic computer literacy
• National Police clearance is required to obtain MSIC

Key Duties - (but not limited to):

• Proactive involvement in ensuring appropriate maintenance processes and strategies are in place
• Ensure consistent and high levels of productivity in the maintenance team by setting KPI's and ensuring KPI targets are achieved
• Ensure budget, cost control and production targets are met
• Coordinate, plan and schedule the maintenance of plant and equipment
• Ensure efficient utilisation of labour, parts, and equipment resources
• Develop and maintain plant and equipment schedules
• Review and report on completed work with recommendations for corrective actions
• Maintain maintenance reports, records and work procedures within SAP to ensure the integrity of the data is upheld
• Undertake failure analysis and preventative maintenance forecasting
• Ensure statutory and Organisational OSH&E policies and requirements are adhered to by you and other members of our team at all times
• Participate in development, coaching and mentoring of the Port Maintenance team and contractors
• Establish and maintain good working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
• Monitor, measure, communicate and report issues or business risks identified within the workplace
• Develop and implement job procedures for various maintenance tasks

About Karara Mining

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
