We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled Environmental Officer (Level 4–5) or Senior Environmental Officer (Level 6) to join our team

What You Will Do:

You will play a key part in shaping sustainable development across our region by assessing development and local law applications, ensuring environmental compliance, and providing sound, practical solutions that protect and enhance our natural assets. You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including developers, consultants, and community members, to deliver high-quality environmental outcomes aligned with relevant legislation, Council policies, and best-practice standards.

For the Senior Environmental Officer, you will also provide technical leadership, mentorship to other team members, and drive business and process improvements that help our team remain adaptive, responsive, and customer focused.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Possess graduate or post-graduate qualification in environmental science, town planning, horticulture, natural resource management or similar from a recognised University or other Tertiary Education Institution or equivalent, or equivalent experience.
  • Current C Class Driver's Licence to attend independent site inspections.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skills in interpreting and applying the Planning Act 2016 and any associated legislation, and practical experience in the assessment or preparation of development applications for operational work and applications under the local laws.
  • Demonstrated ability in interpreting and assessing landscaping plans, environmental management plans, and associated mapping.
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare detailed correspondence to a range of audiences.
