About the Company

Our client is a leader in bituminous spray sealing across Victoria and Eastern South Australia. With a reputation for innovation and quality, they provide road surfacing services to state road authorities, local councils, and major contractors.

As one of Australia's largest sealing contractors, they continue to grow—and now seek a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join their dedicated maintenance team in Horsham, VIC.

The Role

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the successful candidate will maintain and repair the company's mobile plant, heavy vehicles, and specialty surfacing equipment. The role involves routine servicing, diagnostics, breakdown response, and occasional travel to remote project sites across Victoria and South Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain heavy vehicles and construction equipment (e.g. Volvo, Hino, Mercedes, Scania)

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults promptly

  • Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance

  • Respond to breakdowns in the field

  • Ensure safety and compliance on all worksites

  • Record maintenance activities and participate in risk/hazard reporting

  • Participate in project travel, including weekends and remote work as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Qualified Mechanic

  • At least 2 years in bituminous surfacing or construction equipment maintenance

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent

  • Truck Licence – HR essential, HC preferred

  • Forklift Licence – essential

  • Construction White Card (can be assisted upon arrival)

  • First Aid/CPR – advantageous

  • Strong team player with a "can do" attitude and ability to work independently

Salary & Benefits

  • Annual salary: $93,600–$114,480 AUD + 11.5% superannuation
