Green Light Worldwide has a requirement with our Defence client partner for a
Mission Systems and Software Lead
to join their team on a 3-month contract assignmen.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the development and implementation of Mission Systems and Software for ACPs, initially focusing on MQ-28A.
  • Provide specialist engineering services including planning, requirements management, and systems integration.
  • Act as the technical lead for incorporating 3rd Party Mission Autonomy software onto MQ-28A in line with Air Force requirements.
  • Establish, coordinate, and lead technical and programmatic working groups across Defence, industry, and international stakeholders.
  • Review and assess supplier/stakeholder deliverables to ensure compliance with technical, security, and capability outcomes.
  • Manage risk, issues, and opportunities to meet project deliverables within cost, schedule, and quality thresholds.
  • Deliver SME-level briefs on autonomy and mission system architectures to enterprise stakeholders.
  • Engage proactively with US Government and contractor stakeholders to ensure alignment with evolving US reference architectures and program developments.
  • Develop and maintain future roadmaps for Mission Systems and Software, including digital/simulation environments.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a small technical section.

Requirements:

  • Must hold an existing
    NV1 Security Clearance
    (mandatory).
  • Engineering qualifications with 8–11 years' experience in:
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Engineering Management
  • Engineering Project Management
  • Project Change Management
  • Systems Engineering and Integration
  • Demonstrated expertise in
    aviation mission systems and software management, sustainment, and upgrades
    .
  • Experience providing
    specialist engineering services
    across Defence or aerospace projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in
    Defence capability lifecycle
    and program governance.
  • Background in
    autonomy software and mission systems architectures
    .
  • 5+ years' experience in
    military aviation acquisition and/or sustainment
    .
  • Prior exposure to
    uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS)
    programs.
