The Venue

Located on the Brisbane River with sweeping city views, Blackbird Brisbane is one of the city's most iconic dining and bar destinations. This award-winning venue combines an elegant restaurant, vibrant bar, and stunning function spaces that celebrate Brisbane's riverside lifestyle.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Bar Manager to lead the bar team at Blackbird Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned hospitality professional who thrives in high-volume, fast-paced environments and takes pride in delivering premium cocktail and beverage experiences. You'll bring creativity, leadership, and flair to one of Brisbane's most dynamic venues.

As the Bar Manager, you'll oversee all bar operations — from service delivery and stock management to staff training and cocktail development. Working closely with the Venue Manager and Group Beverage Team, you'll elevate Blackbird's signature offering while contributing your own innovative ideas to the menu.

Key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in the following areas:

• Create effective rosters for bar operations and quickly resolve any staffing issues to ensure the bar is appropriately and effectively staffed.
• Monitor and order alcoholic stock and appropriate glassware levels required for the bar in liaison with the Group Bar Manager.
• Assist in developing and maintain the Bar and/or Restaurant cocktail lists and functions packages, with guidance from senior management.
• POS – ensure all products are up to date and entered with correct recipes in BOH system
• Receiving orders and invoicing – Stock to be checked and singed on the day of delivery. All Invoices to be completed and filed before COB of the same week purchased.
• Hire and train staff to provide excellent service to customers. Working with and training front of house team members on existing cocktails or food products, as well as selling techniques and any other necessary beverage training.
• In conjunction with your Venue Manager, keep up to date with Liquor Licensing and legislation changes, ensuring the bar team upholds RSA at all times.
• Act as an escalation point for the handling of customer concerns/complaints.
• Ensure bar operations are integrated and complement the overall venue operations.
• Undertake normal bartender duties and supervise all bartenders and bar backs and bar floor staff to provide excellent customer service.

Successful candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in a similar role and environment, coupled with the following skills and attributes:

• Demonstrated experience as a Bar Manager for similar size venue
• Creative and passionate about the industry
• A real people person and with standout customer service
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team.
• Understanding and experience adhering to health and safety standards and regulations
• Unquestionable commitment to, confidentiality and professionalism
