The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Experienced Auto Electrician to join our high-performing team.

You'll work across premium excavators, trucks, heavy machinery and vehicles in both workshop and field environments.

This role offers variety, autonomy, and long-term career stability with a leading brand.

We also encourage 3rd year apprentices to apply.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Diagnostic fault finding on excavators, trucks and heavy machinery
  • Electrical system repairs, installations & maintenance
  • CANBUS, ECU and advanced electrical diagnostics
  • Installation of accessories, lighting, GPS/telematics & safety systems
  • Repairs to alternators, starter motors, batteries & wiring
  • Reading wiring diagrams, schematics & technical manuals
  • Maintaining high safety standards in all tasks
  • Completing job cards and documentation accurately
  • Working collaboratively with mechanics, apprentices and the wider Gato team

What You Bring
  • Cert III in Auto Electrical Technology (or equivalent)
  • 3rd year apprentices strongly encouraged to apply
  • 3+ years' experience in workshop or field service (desirable)
  • Strong diagnostic and logical problem-solving skills
  • Experience with heavy equipment or earthmoving machinery (preferred)
  • HVAC/air-conditioning experience (advantageous)
  • Current driver's licence
  • Reliable, motivated and safety-focused attitude
  • Forklift licence (desirable)
