Apprentice Electrician

We are seeking an Apprentice Electrician to join our Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance team. This fixed term opportunity will be for a period of up to four years.

The Opportunity

As the Apprentice Electrician you will will work with the Electrical and Mechanical

group's Electrical and Automation trades, as well as Engineering and

Safety staff to gain experience and training in a wide range of functions

involving Hunter Water's assets.

What you'll do:

  • Electric motors including submersible pump motors
  • Pump and process level control equipment
  • High voltage motors, starters, and network structures
  • Instrumentation equipment associated with process monitoring and control
  • Pump station and Substation maintenance
  • Pump and motor overhauls
  • Electrical wiring of Corporation's premises such as cottages, depots and offices

What you'll need to be successful:

Essential Criteria:

  • Completed Higher School Certificate (Year 12) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competence in Mathematics shown through completion of Advanced Mathematics (HSC level) or equivalent (candidates are required to provide proof of prior

    studies and results i.e. trial HSC results with their application)
  • Class C Driver's Licence or provisional equivalent
  • Construction Induction Card
  • Interest in and aptitude for mechanical tasks
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Proven communication, collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to be productive and efficient at work
  • Willing and able to work in a variety of work environments including but not limited to working in

    confined spaces, at heights and in environments exposed to sewer

Desirable Criteria:

  • Completed Certificate II Electrotechnology
  • Relevant work experience in an electrical field
  • Other work experience including other casual or part time work
