Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Gateway Bank Ltd Full time $75,000 - $105,000 per year

Trusted by its members, Gateway aims to be a challenger to the major banks in an increasingly competitive financial services market. As a Customer-Owned bank, we work tirelessly to provide a unique customer value proposition.

Working with a supportive manager, you will be part of a team that is friendly, stable, supportive and committed.

About the role:

What would a typical day look like in this role?

Our work can be generated in a few ways: direct email requests from Members, requests referred by our contact centre, and a small number in person through our branch.

On the customer facing side, this will include the usual mix of account transactions such new memberships, account opening and closing, switching accounts, actions related to term-deposits, new visa debit cards, statement requests, and general account maintenance. The team also shares the teller duties for our branch.

The behind the scenes responsibilities are generally shared across the team, for example each day one of the team undertakes the investigation of transaction variances in the repair window.

An increasing focus of the role is being alert to potential scams and frauds, and signs of member duress.

You will be provided with cross-training in a supportive environment to help develop your skills and to ensure you are able to provide first class service to our members.

About you:

The ideal candidate is a dedicated and passionate Financial Services professional with sound experience in the transaction area.  You'll be committed to professionalism and customer satisfaction. You'll take pride in your work and love working with the team to help reach the company's goals.

What would a suitable candidate have by way of skills and experience?

  • Approximately 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably within consumer banking operations;
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Commitment to service delivery coupled with excellent attention to detail;
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workflows and follow up on issues in a timely manner; and
  • The ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail in the face of high volumes and/or tight deadlines.

About Our Values:

Gateway's values are:

  • Do the right thing
  • Passion
  • Stumble don't fall
  • "Small up" do more with less
  • Not 'work' but making a difference

We hope that prospective employees will connect with all of our values but in particular for this role, we hope that you will relate to the value "Do the right thing". In an environment such as ours, we need to demonstrate high levels of diligence and thoroughness in all of our practices and to follow to the requirements of Banking regulations to the letter.
