The Gardener / Maintenance role is integral to the Corporate Services team, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the grounds at various Mulungu sites in Mareeba. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that our facilities are not only functional but also inviting for all community members.

You will be tasked with a variety of yard duties, including lawn maintenance, plant care, and equipment operation. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will help us maintain a high standard of groundskeeping, contributing to a pleasant environment for our clients and staff.

We are looking for a motivated and skilled individual who has a passion for gardening and maintaining outdoor spaces.

• Possession of a current manual Class C Drivers License.
• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Proficient in the operation and maintenance of gardening equipment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to adhere to workplace health and safety regulations.
• Ability to work between the hours of 7am & 7pm & weekends as required.
• Possession of Working with Children (Blue Card) or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
• Possession of current Australian Federal Police Check (within the last 6 months) or ability to obtain prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

SC Possession of current manual Class C Drivers licence or willingness and ability to attain one in Queensland.

SC 2 Experience working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities.

SC Experience in and demonstrated skills in the operation & maintenance of relevant gardening equipment, lawnmowers, whipper snipper, blowers etc.

SC Experience in the provision of yard services in an external environment with attention to detail.

SC Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to organise and coordinate activities.

Salary details are competitive and in line with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and Practitioners and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services Award 2020.
