Our dynamic product development consultancy continues to experience growth and is looking for a talented firmware engineer to help us service an expanding pipeline of interesting projects.

Typical job responsibilities include:
- Conduct background research into new & existing products as well as new technologies
- Develop POC (proof of concept) firmware based on off-the-shelf evaluation electronics to evaluate new designs and technologies
- Develop firmware for use in prototypes and production units
- Develop firmware requirements and wireless protocols
- Develop test system software and firmware
- Develop architectures, design documentation, test protocols and reports
- Work closely with our cross disciplinary team and clients to test, refine, and demonstrate designs
- Develop and maintain design requirements
- Conduct research and development activities to support a wide range of projects
The ideal candidate will have most of the following:
- Demonstratable embedded firmware development experience in C/C++
- Understanding of development with ARM & Linux embedded processors and related tools
- Able to read, review and understand schematics and component datasheets
- Ideally, experience with STM32, Nordic microprocessors
- Experience developing wireless devices and communication protocols, specifically Bluetooth low energy and WiFi
- Experience developing firmware for ultra-low power products
- Experience developing and deploying firmware within CICD pipelines
- Experience developing firmware for bare metal and RTOS such as FreeRTOS and Zephyr
- Experience with developing in Python to support the firmware development process such as test scripts and GUI applications
- Experience with developing firmware for IOT systems i.e. understanding of protocols such as Restful and MQTT
- Ideally, will have experience developing products for regulated environments (e.g. ISO13485 medical devices)
- Enthusiastic and passionate about developing new technologies
- A high level of self-motivation, self-management, ability to collaborate with other teams
- A high capacity and willingness to learn about continuously evolving technologies
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills in English
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as in Electronics or Software Engineering
Salary will be negotiable based on experience. Our team and work are highly diversified, hence experience in addition to firmware (such as in software development or electronics design) will be highly regarded. This position will not suit a remote worker.
