Manager - Rail & Transfers - Container Parks - Oceania - APAC

Job Purpose
The Rail & Transfers Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective coordination of all rail and landside transport operations in Sydney Container Park. This role ensures seamless integration between rail, road, and terminal operations to meet service delivery targets, regulatory compliance, and customer expectations. The manager will lead a team of supervisors, planners, and operators to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Planning and oversight of Customer Deliveries out of Sydney Container Park
- Review, sign off and overall responsibility on all transfer costs/budget
- Management of designated key customers - performance KPIs and being the point of contact
- Managing Chain of Responsibility requirements within the division in conjunction with the Compliance Manager
- Optimistation of the transfer function including systems, operations and fleet
- Manage terminal deliveries on company ITV's
- Lead the Rail team to ensure efficient discharge and reload of containers to incoming and outgoing trains
- Effectively communicate with other teams in the container park to ensure that customer requests are prioritised appropriately to meet business needs and stakeholder expectations
- Lead train scheduling, loading/unloading, and turnaround times in coordination with rail operators and internal stakeholders
- Provide leadership, direction and coaching for all direct reports
- Maintain employee productivity to meet customer service level agreements
- Maintain employee engagement and positive workplace culture that fosters great performance
- Develop and monitor KPI's for all team members
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Minimum 10 years' experience in a Transport or Rail Related role with a strong understanding on CoR and fleet management
- 3-5 years in Team leadership of a Transport function
- Experience with Transport Management systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate collaboratively and effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders and customers
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and develop skills in the team
- High level organisational skills
- Proven customer service skills and excellent communication skills
