We are currently recruiting for a Bilingual Italian speaking Social Worker to work for an organisation who supports people who speak Italian in the Greater Sydney area. The role would involve providing counselling, both online and face to face and work predominantly with adults. They are open to full time or part time hours with hybrid work arrangements on offer.

About The Role

  • Essential to be fluent in Italian
  • Initially a contract until 30th June 2027
  • Full Time or Part Time hours available – whatever works for you.
  • Salary up to $80k per annum, plus super (Full Time Equivalent)
  • Salary Packaging available
  • Office located in the Inner West – Hybrid work arrangements on offer
  • Must have a Social Work degree, or be registered as a Psychologist

About the organisation:
This organisation have been supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds for many years – they support people who come from an Italian background in particular and also run a number of other programs to support vulnerable people, as well as cultural events.

Duties

  • Provide a culturally and linguistically appropriate counselling service to people living with a chronic mental illness. The counselling may be face-to-face (in the office or in a community setting) or via telephone
  • Provide appropriate assessment, psychological interventions and referrals to individuals in the area of mental illness
  • Develop and conduct prevention and education programmes (seminars/mental health promotion strategies) for the target group
  • Provide a consultancy service to mainstream agencies and departments regarding the mental health needs of the Italian community
  • Work collaboratively with mainstream professional in relation to joint case management and the development of education and training seminars
  • Participate in relevant committees and ongoing liaison with key government and non- government agencies in the area of mental health

Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work (we'd also be open to registered Psychologists).
  • Experience in providing counselling
  • Fluent in Italian
