We are seeking an experienced Pastry Commis Chef to join our fast-paced, well-structured, and highly collaborative kitchen team.

Our pastry section has a reputation for excellence, producing cakes, tarts, desserts, canapés, quiches, and savoury pastries that set the benchmark in our industry. You'll be working with a skilled team, learning from talented chefs, and contributing to creations that delight thousands of clients every week.

About this role:

  • Based in Artarmon, 2064
  • Monday - Friday, 3am start
  • Full-time work, have your weekends off

Please consider your transport options for the 3am start as public transport options are limited for a 3am start.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily preparation of pastry items (cakes, tarts, desserts, canapés, quiches, savoury pastries, filled Viennoiserie) with high-quality presentation
  • Follow recipes and directions provided by senior pastry chefs
  • Maintain quality, portion control, and presentation standards
  • Keep workstation clean, organised, and compliant with food hygiene and safety standards
  • Assist with mise en place and production for events and catering orders
  • Clean and care for pastry equipment and work areas
  • Work efficiently, collaborate with the team, and consistently meet production KPIs and deadlines
  • Contribute to menu development by providing creative feedback and suggestions

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 2 years' commercial pastry experience (or relevant training)
  • Certificate III in Patisserie or equivalent
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and production schedules
  • Physical capability to stand long periods and lift up to 15kg
  • Proven experience working efficiently and cleanly in a fast-paced environment
  • Current food safety certification
  • Strong written and spoken English
