The Senior Sonographer will perform high quality obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scans.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Sonographer to provide high quality obstetric and gynaecologic ultrasound services. You will be well supported by our team of Maternal Fetal Medicine and COGU subspecialists.

Main tasks
- Performing high quality obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound scans.
- Completion of preliminary ultrasound reports to be finalised by a sonologist.
- Obtaining sufficient medical information from patients to guide the ultrasound scan
- Communication with patients regarding ultrasound findings.
- Escalation of abnormal ultrasound findings to reporting sonologists.
- Communication of unexpected findings to referring practitioners as directed by sonologists.
- Assist other sonographers or sonologists with examinations within their scope of practice
- Assist with supervision / orientation or training of sonographers as directed by the Chief Sonographer or Managing Directors.
- Participation in activities to enhance the safety and quality of services at East Melbourne Ultrasound, including, but not limited to educational activities, guideline development and case reviews.
Licences, registrations and qualifications
- Completion of appropriate training and qualifications to allow registration as a medical sonographer.
- Registration with the Australian Sonographers Accreditation Registry.
- Completion of RANZCOG Nuchal Translucency Credentialing and evidence of participation in audit. (RANZCOG Nuchal Translucency Credentialing must be current at the time of application).
- Australian work authorisation required for this position.
Essential Experience
- At least 2 years experience in a tertiary obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound service including performing fetal medicine ultrasound scans.
- Candidates must have experience performing all types of fetal medicine ultrasound scans.
- Experience supervising and training sonographers and medical staff to perform ultrasounds
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Viewpoint reporting software.
- Experience performing fetal echocardiograms with a fetal cardiologist.
- Experience performing gynaecological scans to assess Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis
