About The Opportunity

You will make an impact by
- Conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018.Investigating complaints and unsafe building works,and taking appropriate enforcement action.
 - Audit fire safety to high-risk buildings on the maintenance of essential safety measures.
 - Audit fire risk to commercial buildings with the EPA and other agencies.
 - Conducting joint inspections with planning compliance and environmental health teams.
 - Supporting the Municipal Building Surveyor with report and consent applications, and assisting in writing legal briefs to prosecute matters in court.
 - Carry out swimming pool and spa safety barrier inspections.
 - Responding to emergency callouts and providing expert advice on building matters.
 - Contributing to the development of building policies and procedures.
 
What You Will Bring
- Registration (or eligibility) as a Registered Building Practitioner - Building Inspector.
 - Demonstrated experience in a Building Inspector role or similar discipline.
 - Strong working knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
 - Council experience (preferred) for a smoother transition into the role.
 - Ability to work autonomously with a customer-centric and diplomatic approach.
 - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
 - A current Victorian driver's licence.
