Parks and Gardens Officer

About the role

Reporting to the Parks Maintenance Supervisor, this position will ensure that Parks and Gardens operations and associated maintenance throughout the Shire of Murray are carried out efficiently and o a high standard at all times. The position on offer is a full-time position working 76 hours per fortnight. An EBA Level 6 salary of $71,116.44 per annum will be offered.

Key Duties

• Assisting in the maintenance of parks, gardens, verge, reserve, and recreational areas throughout the Shire of Murray to a high standard.
• Provide a high level of support within Gardening, Mowing, Reticulation, or Townsite Maintenance teams as directed.
• General duties include, but are not limited to; plant and tree maintenance, ground maintenance, reticulation installation and maintenance, mowing maintenance, turf care, fertilising and weed control, cemetery duties as required and assistance with various townscape and gardening projects.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated practical experience in gardens maintenance procedures (eg. landscaping, mowing, reticulation, ground/turf care, weed control etc)
• Experience in the safe use and maintenance of associated plant and machinery (eg. mowers, whipper snippers, chainsaws, etc)
• Ability to work within a team environment and maintain positive relationships with supervisors and peers
• Hold a current unrestricted HR class national driver's license
• Formal qualifications in horticulture or similar, experience in a similar position within Local Government and a Current Apply First Aid Certificate will be highly regarded
