Port Kembla, New South Wales, Australia BlueScope Full time $104,000 - $130,878 per year
Job Description

BlueScope is an Australian-born global success story spanning 15 countries. Our team of over 16,500 people is our strength and we want our people to be safe, successful and well. We're leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future. We're proud of brands, like COLORBOND steel that inspire and protect everything from hospitals to bridges and stadiums.

The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Product Quality Engineer team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products (ASP) portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

The Metal Coating Lines (MCL) manufactures and supplies metal coated products for building, pre-painted, distribution and manufacturing applications. With a focus on metal coated products you will be joining a well-established team of specialists and technologists. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you'll utilise your technical knowledge to drive product quality and capability. Focusing on robust product and manufacturing design, you'll leverage what's existing to promote continuous improvement.

In this essential role, you will grow and develop both technically and as a leader, focusing on working closely with the shift teams on the continuous production, reliability, and quality of our products. When you join our team, we offer a 14% superannuation option, an annual profit share plan (bonus), access to a number of health & wellbeing initiatives including such as our EAP provider, and fitness passport.

What Will You Do?

With exposure to the entire metal coated products range, and gaining invaluable process experience, you will:

  • support product quality through process improvements and ensuring product standards
  • provide technical support on metallic coating lines
  • assess and analyse data, whilst identifying opportunities to improve our metal coated products.
  • Work collaboratively within our manufacturing plant to ensure product quality.
  • successfully contribute to a safe working environment

More About You

With your technical experience and ability to make calculated decisions while working in a fast-paced environment, you will bring:

  • tertiary qualifications in materials or metallurgical engineering
  • experience working in a manufacturing industry - operational, process, or technical environment
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
  • developed communication, and influencing skills to build constructive and effective relationships.
  • an ability to coordinate technical projects and work seamlessly with other departments to influence outcomes in a timely manner.
