About the Role

The Geospatial Analyst supports the GIS activities of the NSW Electoral Commission in line with stakeholder and legislative requirements, to facilitate evidence-based decision making and planning.

We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in all aspects of geospatial data analysis, research and cartography, a good team player who is flexible and has a strong willingness to learn. If this sounds like you, apply now.

The New South Wales Electoral Commission delivers trusted and independent systems, processes, oversight and engagement that support democracy in New South Wales. Key knowledge, experience and essential requirements

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary or TAFE qualifications in Geographic Information Systems. 
  • Experience in ArcGIS Pro or similar.
  • Experience in spatial data analysis and editing.
  • Understanding of spatial coordinate systems and map projections.
  • Familiarity with spatial data formats (ESRI geodatabases, Mapinfo TAB, SHP, spatially enabled databases, KML, etc.).
  • Cartography skills.
  • Willingness to work across and collaborate with other teams and processes.
  • Politically neutral with no affiliation to political parties or lobbyists/campaigners.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record check result.

Highly recommended skills

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn data analysis using SQL with relational databases.
  • Experience or willingness to learn the Python scripting language for GIS work.
  • Experience from work or study in data conversion.
