Company Description Job Description
Griffith was created to be a different type of university. You'll find we're about leading research, academic excellence, and the transformative power of education. But what sets us apart is why those things matter and how you'll achieve them. Since opening in 1975, Griffith has grown from one campus and 451 students to become a comprehensive, five campus institution, with over 46,000 students and more than 300,000 graduates.
We strive to be a place where all peoples of all cultures feel valued and respected, and where Indigenous Australian people, cultures, knowledges, experiences and perspectives, form an integral part of our learning, teaching, research, and community engagement. At Griffith, we hold ourselves accountable to the belief that reconciliation is everybody's business.
Griffith University seeks to appoint Indigenous leader of the highest calibre to lead, coordinate, promote and work with colleagues across the University in successfully enabling all aspects of the University's activity in First Peoples research innovation, learning and teaching, and engagement. The portfolio includes the Indigenous Research Unit and the GUMURRII Student Success Unit.
Reflecting the seniority of the role, you will also lead the Logan campus, working with the local community to grow and develop the campus in line with the University's strategic plan, creating an 'inter-generational, inter-cultural' hub that serves the people of Logan.
To do this, you will possess outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage colleagues across the university, as well as with government, commerce and community groups.
Modelling the highest standards of integrity, you will be an influential and inspirational leader, with an absolute commitment to harnessing the power of Griffith University to change lives and impact communities, enabling Indigenous Australians to thrive academically, socially and culturally.
To perform this role, it is essential that you be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
We welcome interest from academic and professional candidates who have worked in senior university roles, or those who bring significant senior leadership or executive experience in large organisations outside of universities.
