Assistant Head of Science

We have a rare opportuniity within our science department for a passionate and dynamic science teacher to step into a leadership role as the Assistant Head of Science. This is a teaching position with a period allocation and monetary allowance to support the Head of Science in the smooth running of the department.
This is a full time, permanent position commencing at the start of the 2026 school year (Friday 23 January 2026).
The successful applicant need to have a relevant degree/teaching qualification, be accredited with NESA and hold a current Working With Children Check. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Chemistry and/or Physics.
The responsibilities of the Assistant Head of Science include:
- Organising enrichment activities of the Department such as competitions and Science Club.
- Assist in the planning of Department meetings and the development of Department initiatives.
- Assist in the mentoring of staff and student-teachers.
- Act in the place of the Head of Department in the case of short-term absence of the Head of Department.
The specific tasks undertaken by the Assistant Head of Science may vary depending on the needs of the Department and the skills and interests of the successful candidate.
