About the Role

The Technical Assistant – Rural is a hands-on support role within the Agribusiness team at TAFE NSW, focused on enabling the effective delivery of educational programs. The role involves preparing class materials, setting up practical demonstrations, and assisting teachers with educational displays. It includes responsibility for the daily care, feeding, and monitoring of animals used in training, ensuring their welfare and compliance with regulatory standards. The position also supports the maintenance of agricultural resources and contributes to audit readiness, WHS compliance, and customer service across campus operations.

About You

You are a practical and experienced professional with a strong foundation in agriculture and animal care, backed by a Certificate III qualification and over five years of industry experience. You bring a proactive approach to your work, with a proven ability to operate and maintain agricultural machinery, manage supplies, and uphold workplace safety standards. Your strengths lie in your ability to work independently, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a clean, organised environment. You're committed to delivering quality service and continuously developing your skills to support operational excellence.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate Ill in Agriculture (Livestock and Cropping) or Animal Care or equivalent skills and knowledge, with minimum 5 years industry experience.
  • Experience in daily animal care and welfare, agricultural tasks and operation and maintenance of agricultural equipment.
  • Appropriate licences for vehicles and machinery utilised in the agricultural and animal care area or willingness to obtain.
  • Current drivers' licence and first aid certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Willingness to travel as required across campuses and regional locations.

Highly Regarded but not required:

  • Certificate IV in Agriculture or above.
  • Forklifting and or HR Truck licence.
