Trainer and Assessor for Community Services

Novus Education (RTO Code: is seeking Trainers and Assessors for the day-to-day quality delivery of training, assessment and student services (including design, development, piloting and validation of training and assessment tools, resources, supporting materials and processes) for the following qualifications:

CHC Diploma of Community Service

CHC Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management

Training location is in our Ultimo Campus. The available position/s are for trainers/ assessors who will be assigned to student groups that will be timetabled according to the training plans and availability.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Delivering training, assessment and student services that adhere to the principles of access and equity, meet the individual needs of students, and maximise outcomes for students;
• Designing, developing and continuously improving training and assessment tools, resources and materials that comply with the mandates of relevant Training Packages, and that meet workplace and regulatory requirements, as appropriate;
• Develop training facilitation plan per each unit of competency, ensure the face to face/online training delivery is conducted in accordance to developed training and assessment strategy and the assessment schedule.
• Conducting assessment and making assessment decisions in accordance with the principles of assessment and rules of evidence;
• Validating, moderating and continuously improving assessment tools and processes, and moderating assessment decisions;
• Ensure an accurate record of student's academic performance and attendance are recorded and kept for each student in a timely and systematically manner.
• Reporting on students regarding absenteeism.
• Demonstrating current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment services being delivered;
• Actively engaging in ongoing professional development to ensure the continued currency of VET knowledge and skills, industry skills / vocational competence, and trainer / assessor competence;
• Undertaking and delivering outcomes for such other duties, activities and projects as may from time to time be assigned by the RTO Manager.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry partners, and community organizations to secure quality placement opportunities.
• Match students/trainees to appropriate work placements based on skills, interests, and program requirements.
• Provide pre-placement preparation and guidance to students, including resume support, interview preparation, and workplace expectations.
• Coordinate placement logistics including scheduling, documentation, and compliance with legal and institutional policies.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of students during placements through regular check-ins, feedback, and site visits.
• Resolve issues that may arise between students and employers during placement.
• Maintain accurate records and databases of placements, employer contacts, and student progress.
• Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, and administrative staff to ensure placements align with curriculum goals.
• Collect feedback from employers and students to improve placement processes.

Necessary qualifications:

• Diploma of Community Services/Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management or Equivalent tertiary qualifications
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; TAE40116 or TAE40110 along with TAEASS502 and TAELLN401 units, or Higher level of Training and Assessment qualifications
• Relevant/current industry experience
• Knowledge of AQTF, ASQA
• 4 + years practical work experience in the field you deliver training
• A national police check (issued within the past 12 months)
• Unrestricted right to work in Australia
