Description

Position purpose:

The purpose of this role is to provide support in the provision of quality services, primarily in kitchen catering, secondarily other duties in food & beverage, guest, office or facility services, to Alexandra Park Conference Centre and its patrons.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general and specialised cooking duties—including butchering, baking, and pastry preparation.
• For Grade 4 roles, supervise and train fellow cooks and kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality.
• Identify strategies to improve service delivery, suggesting enhancements to policies, processes, and the overall work environment.
• Work alongside other departments (e.g., Guest Services, Facilities Maintenance) when needed to support overall service excellence.
• Work in accordance with our Code of Conduct, workplace health and safety legislation, and other relevant policies—including timely reporting of hazards or incidents.

Qualifications & Experience:

• (Grade 3) Trade qualification as a commis chef (or equivalent) with previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
• (Grade 4) Trade qualification as a demi chef (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in supervising and training kitchen staff.
• Commitment to excellent personal hygiene, attention to detail, and quality customer service.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A genuine commitment to the mission, values, and policies of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod.
• Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card)
• Valid Australian working rights
