Located in the heart of Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Alexandra Park Conference Centre is renowned for its outstanding culinary services. We are seeking dedicated chefs to support our kitchen services. Whether you qualify as a Grade 3 Cook (commi chef level) or bring the added experience of a Grade 4 Cook (demi chef level) with proven supervision and training skills, we want to hear from you. This is also a great opportunity for a Grade 3 cook looking to step into more responsibility.

In this role you will have the opportunity to prepare, cook and serve nutritious, wholesome, and appetizing meals in line with approved recipes and menus.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general and specialised cooking duties—including butchering, baking, and pastry preparation.
• For Grade 4 roles, supervise and train fellow cooks and kitchen staff to ensure consistent quality.
• Identify strategies to improve service delivery, suggesting enhancements to policies, processes, and the overall work environment.
• Work alongside other departments (e.g., Guest Services, Facilities Maintenance) when needed to support overall service excellence.
• Work in accordance with our Code of Conduct, workplace health and safety legislation, and other relevant policies—including timely reporting of hazards or incidents.

Qualifications & Experience

• Trade qualification as a commi chef (or equivalent) with previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment. (Grade 3)
• Trade qualification as a demi chef (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in supervising and training kitchen staff. (Grade 4)
• Commitment to excellent personal hygiene, attention to detail, and quality customer service.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A genuine commitment to the mission, values, and policies of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod.
• Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card)
• Valid Australian working rights

Remuneration

This position is classified under the relevant Hospitality Industry Award provisions and will be paid in accordance with the Award.
