  • 3 month initial contract + 3 month extension
  • Mix of WFH and office in Central Sydney

A Senior Enterprise Architect / Lead Solution Architect is required to commence on a project asap. This is a highly technical and delivery-focused role. The architect will be expected to work closely with internal teams and external vendors to guide analysis, procurement, and implementation. They will translate complex research requirements into secure, scalable, and compliant architectures, lead stakeholder engagement, and coach solution teams to ensure consistent and standards-aligned delivery.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven expertise in Petascale storage architectures and data lifecycle management, including delivery of multi-tier storage solutions with defined SLOs, optimising for cost, integrity, and performance.
  • Strong command of data platforms and analytics across the full data lifecycle, with experience enabling discovery, transformation, and collaboration, and establishing reusable data product patterns.
  • Deep understanding of high-performance computing environments and workloads, with a track record of designing and tuning shared research compute aligned to scalable workflows.
  • Advanced knowledge of database and metadata design, performance, and governance, including secure metadata services, provenance modelling, and access control enforcement.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing security, privacy, and compliance controls for trusted research environments, including controlled access, auditable egress, and privacy-by-design principles.
  • Practical experience in platform engineering and container orchestration across hybrid and on-premises environments, with the ability to standardise research tool platforms and deployments.
  • Strong background in automation and infrastructure-as-code, with experience in creating repeatable builds and upgrades and driving robust release and change management practices.
  • Proficiency in observability, reliability engineering, backup, and disaster recovery, including incident response and resilience design.
  • Solid understanding of cost, capacity, and performance planning, with experience in forecasting and right-sizing compute and storage to balance budget, risk, and research needs.
  • Fluency in AI/ML platforms and model lifecycle management, including secure data access for training and inference, and promoting responsible deployment practices.
