Detailed Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to design and oversee end-to-end solution architectures within our telecommunications organization. The ideal candidate will bridge business strategy with technological solutions, ensuring alignment across business units while driving digital transformation initiatives and architectural innovation in a rapidly evolving telecommunications landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture Leadership

• Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture framework, standards, and governance processes
• Define architectural principles, patterns, and reference models tailored to telecommunications environments
• Lead architectural reviews and provide guidance on complex solution designs and technical decisions
• Ensure architecture alignment with business goals, industry trends, and emerging technologies

Solution Architecture Design

• Design end-to-end solution architectures for complex telecommunications systems and services
• Create detailed architecture artifacts including architectural diagrams, specifications, and roadmaps
• Integrate diverse technology domains including BSS/OSS, network systems, customer-facing platforms, and emerging technologies
• Develop migration strategies for legacy system modernization and cloud adoption

Technology Innovation

• Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential impact on telecommunications services and operations
• Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new technologies such as 5G, network slicing, edge computing, and AI/ML
• Develop architectural approaches for digital service delivery and monetization
• Guide the adoption of cloud-native architectures and microservices

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Partner with product management to ensure architecture supports service roadmaps and market needs
• Work with operations teams to ensure architectural designs support operational excellence
• Serve as technical advisor to executives on strategic technology decisions

Governance and Standards

• Ensure solution designs comply with enterprise architecture standards and industry regulations
• Lead architecture governance boards and review processes
• Establish and maintain architectural principles and patterns repository
• Define and enforce compliance with telecommunications industry standards (e.g., TMF, 3GPP, ETSI)

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• 10+ years of IT experience with at least 5 years in architecture roles within telecommunications
• Demonstrated experience designing complex, large-scale solution architectures
• Proven track record leading enterprise architecture initiatives in a telecommunications environment

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of telecommunications systems including BSS/OSS, network functions, and service delivery platforms
• Experience with telecommunications industry standards and frameworks (TMF, ETSI, 3GPP)
• Expertise in system integration patterns and approaches for complex heterogeneous environments
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their telecommunications-specific offerings
• Understanding of network technologies including 5G, SDN/NFV, and edge computing

Architecture Expertise

• Proficiency in architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and modeling techniques
• Experience with microservices architecture, API management, and event-driven architectures
• Knowledge of containerization, orchestration, and DevOps practices
• Understanding of data architecture principles and practices for large-scale systems

Business Acumen

• Strong understanding of telecommunications business models and value chains
• Ability to align technical solutions with business objectives and market requirements
• Experience in digital transformation initiatives within telecommunications
• Knowledge of telecommunications regulatory environment and compliance requirements

Leadership and Communication

• Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong leadership abilities with experience guiding cross-functional teams
• Proven stakeholder management skills at executive levels
• Strategic thinking with ability to balance long-term vision with pragmatic implementation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with major telecommunications COTS packages (Amdocs, Oracle Communications, Netcracker, etc.)
• Certifications in relevant architecture frameworks (TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Experience with telecommunications digital transformation initiatives
• Background in application rationalization and legacy modernization
• Knowledge of AI/ML applications in telecommunications environments
• Experience with agile and lean practices at scale

This role reports to the Associate Director Architecture and serves as a key member of the technology leadership team.
