Electrical Apprentice

Sandman Electrical Service & Sandman Electrical Enclosures are a specialist group dedicated to providing high-quality electrical solutions for the demanding industrial and mining sectors in Western Australia. Our operations are twofold: Sandman Electrical Enclosures focuses on the precision manufacturing of custom electrical enclosures and control panels in our workshop, while Sandman Electrical Service provides expert field installation, maintenance, and comprehensive support at client sites.

We are expanding both teams and are actively seeking a Qualified Electrician, motivated Electrical Apprentice, an industrial Electrical Draftsperson / Panel Builder to support ongoing project demand and continued growth across the entire organisation.

Electrical Apprentice

Responsibilities

Assist licensed electricians with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures

Learn to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams

Prepare and clean work sites, ensuring all safety protocols are followed

Handle, transport, and install various tools, materials, and equipment

Perform basic tasks like drilling holes, pulling wire, and setting up conduit runs

Maintain accurate records of time spent on jobs and materials use

Attend all required technical schooling and training sessions

Skills & Requirements

Current Police Clearance

Must be able to pass pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol Testing

Electrician

Responsibilities

FIFO / DIDO as required

Surface and underground Project work

Surface and underground Shift Cover as required

High Voltage Installations

Rig Servicing and Maintenance

PLC Programming and Maintenance

Panel Builds and Modifications

Refrigeration Work

Skills & Requirements

WA 'A' Grade Electrical Licence

Current CPR and LVR

Current WA Driver's Licence (HR Licence Advantageous)

Current Police Clearance

High Voltage Switching (Advantageous)

Working at Heights & EWP

Dual trade refrigeration mechanic (Highly desirable)

Split System ticket as a minimum

Expert knowledge of current electrical codes

Ability to work independently, manage a workload efficiently & supervise apprentices where required

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated commitment to job site safety and quality control

Must be able to pass pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol Testing

Draftsperson / Electrical Panel Builder

Responsibilities

Build, assemble, and wire electrical control panels and enclosures

Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and wiring diagrams

Mount and terminate components such as breakers, relays, PLCs, contactors, etc.

Produce layout drawings, bill of materials, and project documentation

Conduct continuity, insulation, and functional testing prior to dispatch

Work to Australian Standards and company QA procedures

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment

Apply relevant standards and drafting best practices

Skills & Requirements

Electrical Trade qualification (preferred, or strong industry experience)

Previous experience in panel building or switchboard assembly

Ability to understand wiring diagrams and technical drawings

Strong attention to detail, accuracy and quality workmanship

Ability to work independently and within a small team

Experience with AutoCAD or similar electrical drafting software

Strong understanding of electrical components, symbols, and standards

Ability to interpret and translate design requirements into clear technical drawings

Ability to work collaboratively with fabrication and wiring teams

Must be able to pass pre-employment medical including Drug & Alcohol Testing
