Exciting Business Analyst Opportunity – Federal Government Project

We are seeking an experienced
Business Analyst
to join a multi-disciplinary agile team working on large-scale federal government initiatives. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven professional to shape business outcomes, lead stakeholder engagement, and contribute to the delivery of impactful digital solutions.

Requirements:

Australian citizenship.

Security Clearance: Baseline

Experience level APS6 equivalent

Contract:9 months

12-months extension options available

Location: ACT, VIC

Working arrangements Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

As a Business Analyst, you will:

  • Lead business analysis activities across pre-discovery, discovery, design, and delivery phases.
  • Plan and conduct user interviews to identify high-level and detailed business problems, analyse root causes, and translate needs into actionable outcomes.
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and foster a collaborative working environment.
  • Work with complex systems and government applications to deliver practical, user-focused outcomes.
  • Contribute to policy development, project management, and capability maturity improvements.
  • Mentor and support less experienced team members.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture within a highly motivated agile team.

Occasional travel to Canberra may be required for onboarding, planning, and training (1–2 times per quarter).


What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Strong track record in running interviews, analysing business problems, and eliciting user needs.
  • Proven ability to bridge the gap between business and technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism when working within policy and legislative frameworks.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience in data modelling, data mapping, and process modelling.
  • Hands-on experience in agile delivery environments.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
