About the Opportunity
HYPAR Residential Care is an innovative and growing support service, specialising in providing residential care supportive relationships with young people who have complex needs and challenging behaviour that are in the care of the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety.
HYPAR Residential Care's SIL program provides transition services for young people moving from statuary care into independent living and adulthood.
The Case Worker – T2A are responsible for providing practical and emotional support to young people within the T2A SIL program. Overseeing the case work in their assigned houses ensuring the Mentors focus on supporting and encouraging young people to participate in daily living activities and competency-based programs, expanding the network of supports and relationships within the community.
We are looking for passionate caseworkers across both Brisbane North and South.
About the Role
Some key responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop individualised Care Plans in partnership with young people, focusing on key life skills (budgeting, cooking, employment readiness, etc.)
- Ensure young person's participation and engagement in the program.
- Encourage and facilitate positive community interactions to engage and integrate the young person.
- Support the young person to identify the need for therapeutic assessments & interventions to sustain mental health and address trauma.
- Support the young person to continue to engage in school, other study, work or support allowances.
- Support young person to maintain a safe and appropriate relationship with their family and social network.
- Attend internal and external meetings with stakeholders as required to support and advocate for the young person.
- Work on a rotating fortnightly roster including floor shifts and administration shifts.
- Provide coaching and supervision to Mentors in assigned house/s.
- Complete and record supervisions and debriefs for direct reports.
- You will be required to support service users with high levels of challenging behaviours, mental health issues, disabilities, or high medical needs.

- An understanding of mental health, support services and knowledge of relevant child, youth and family legislation

Essential Requirements
- A Cert IV or higher in a relevant industry field (e.g. Youth Work, Social Work, Human Services)
- Knowledge of services within the community - highly desirable
- Previous experience working in residential care or with young people with complex and challenging behaviours.
- TCI Trained - Highly desirable
- Paid Blue Card - or willing to obtain
- Paid NDIS Disability Worker Screening - or willing to obtain
- Must be willing to obtain a Child Safety background screening check (LCS2)
- Must be willing to obtain a Traffic History Report (10 years)
- Open QLD Drivers Licence
