At the heart of the New South Wales (NSW) planning system, the Planning Group takes centre stage. Driven by the NSW Government's unwavering commitment to tackle the critical housing issue, we provide essential support and strategic guidance.

The Planning Land Use Strategy, Housing and Infrastructure (PLUSHI) team are the driving force behind the Department's strategic planning, policy, rezoning, and infrastructure projects, all aimed at making New South Wales a better place to live.

The role

We want to support the growth and diversification of the 24- hour economy, including precinct planning, activation strategies, and through regulatory reform. We're looking for an experienced Senior Policy Officer to work on a range of projects to support policy development, legislative reform, and stakeholder engagement focused on enhancing the vibrancy, safety, and sustainability of the 24- hour economy across NSW.

You will contribute to planning system reforms to make it easier to support businesses and place activation, and community uses across the state, and harmonise liquor and planning processes. You will provide expert policy advice on planning matters related to nighttime operations and public space activation.

You will have a degree in urban and regional planning or other relevant discipline, demonstrated knowledge of relevant environmental assessment and planning legislation and processes. We would also welcome proven experience in stakeholder engagement, negotiation and project management, and experience in related disciplines such as local government approval processes and liquor licensing.
