Breast Care Nurse - Breast, Oncology and Endocrinology
The Royal Melbourne Hospital
- Part Time Ongoing Position
- 48 hours per fortnight
- City Campus, incorporating the VCCC Parkville Breast Service
The Royal Melbourne Hospital Breast Service is integrated within the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC), a partnership between the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), the Royal Women's Hospital (RWH) and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC).
The service offers assessment, diagnostic and treatment management for women and men with benign and malignant breast disease.
Working within a multidisciplinary team of specialist breast surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists and breast care nurses — with the support of radiology, pathology, nursing and allied health — you'll help deliver coordinated, high-quality care. The service provides care for patients experiencing breast changes, those at high risk, and those with early or advanced breast cancer, supported by regular clinical treatment, audit and supportive care meetings.
Your new role:
- Provide specialist clinical, educational and supportive care to patients and their families across the VCCC Parkville precinct
- Coordinate and evaluate care throughout the treatment trajectory — from diagnosis through to treatment, follow-up and palliation, with a particular focus on reconstructive surgery
- Assess psychosocial and informational needs, and provide education, resources and referral to optimise patient outcomes
- Act as a key resource and educator for clinical staff managing patients who have undergone reconstructive surgery
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate seamless patient care and support service development
About you:
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Postgraduate qualifications in breast cancer nursing, cancer care/oncology or palliative care
- Minimum five years' post-registration experience, including at least three years in breast care or oncology nursing
- Demonstrated understanding of the physical and psychosocial needs of patients with breast cancer
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to excellence in evidence-based practice and multidisciplinary teamwork
Benefits:
- Be part of a supportive and values-driven workplace culture
- Career growth opportunities, ongoing training, and professional development
- Access to Health & Wellbeing programs including Fitness Passport, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and Staff Peer Support
- Salary packaging, on-site car parking, and great public transport access
