The Solutions Architect team at AWS is responsible for helping customers successfully implement cloud technologies. We are looking for a Manager for our Solution Architecture team. Join our Public Sector team to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of AWS cloud services within our strategic accounts and owning the on-going technical relationship with customers in the Australian Government community.

The AWS Solutions Architecture team works with the Australian Government and AWS partners on architecting innovative solutions for all our stakeholders. Our work can be highly sensitive, time critical focusing on strategic and operational outcomes. We are passionate about supporting our Public Sector community and will go the extra mile to ensure we achieve successful outcomes. We are consistently challenged with unique and diverse requirements that require 'out of the box' thinking supported by deep technical knowledge

As the Manager, you will supervise a team of talented solutions architects focused on working to support our most critical Government customers.

The broad responsibilities will include developing highly skilled technical staff, supporting technical strategies for customers and driving customer outcomes with your team of Solutions Architects. An effective leader will develop a deep expertise in the AWS technologies as well as broad knowledge of how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform.

The ideal candidate will possess communication skills that allow them to represent Amazon well within a customer's environment and drive discussions with senior personnel, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact and give guidance to software developers and architects. They should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of solutions architects focused on Federal Government and NSD customers
  • Drive innovation by identifying new concepts and technologies to support customer missions/outcomes
  • Partner with internal AWS teams to bring the best of AWS to each customer
  • Help shape the strategic technology roadmap for the customer organisations
  • Work with each Solution Architect to develop their professional and technical skillset
  • Support the AWS business cycle and execute backoffice functions as required

This role is within the Public Sector Solutions Architecture team, working with public sector customers in the Australian Government, National Security and Defence. As a public sector Senior Solution Architect within Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon's services within critical strategic accounts.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of enterprise IT application work that includes at least 2 years of hands-on software development or DevOps engineering experience
  • 8+ years of technology solutions development and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing experience
  • 2+ years of architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc. experience
  • Experience leading and growing teams of senior technology professionals, ideally in customer facing roles
  • Experience managing teams
  • Bachelor Degree/experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud
  • Experience in a technical role within a sales organization
  • Experience leading or developing high quality, enterprise scale software products using a structured system development lifecycle
