We are looking for full-time and part-time retail assistants. If you have a keen interest in mechanical things, such as motorbikes, cars, engines or boats this job would suit you.

We require staff who can work weekends, so the full time position is Monday to Saturday; the part time position involves weekend work.

A background in batteries, mechanics or similar industries is required and we will provide further on-the-job training. You must have had some retail experience. This job is a combination of retail sales and fitting car/boat and other mechanical batteries.

Applicants with a background in auto electrical work OR auto mechanical experience/skills are preferred and would be viewed as having an advantage.

Applicants already with a Battery-fitting license would be ideal, but this certification can be completed on-site.

If you do not have a background in any of the above or have a demonstrated similar set of interests or skills please do not apply.

We have two shops and you will be working in one or both.

Battery World Belconnen is one of the top-performing franchises in the state and Battery World Gungahlin is growing rapidly hence the role requires you to be a positive, energetic retail assistant with an enthusiasm to learn on the job.

We are open Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Saturday 09:00 am pm and Sunday 09:00 am-2:00pm.

The role:

  • Serving customers in-store – battery sales, testing, and installations

  • Providing roadside assistance for flat batteries, jump starts, and minor issues

  • Diagnosing battery problems on-site and in-store

  • Maintaining stock levels and store presentation

  • Delivery and mobile call-outs (company vehicle provided)

Required skills and experience:

  • Must be fit and energetic. You'll be required to fit batteries in cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles.

  • Must have current drivers licence (manual preferred) living in the Belconnen area or surrounding suburbs is preferred.

  • Mechanically minded with basic electrical knowledge

  • Can work independently and manage time efficiently

  • Basic computer skills in order to operate Point of Sale (POS) system
