AOD Program Facilitator

Brief Summary of role:

The AOD Program Facilitator in collaboration with the AOD staff is responsible for the coordination and delivery of treatment programs and activities, that support participants alcohol and other drugs recovery, using person centered, culturally appropriate and evidenced based programs. The coordinator will ensure the programs include harm minimisation, relapse prevention, recognition of stages of change and support the Case Management and Continued Care component of the service. The role is underpinned by Venndale's service delivery model and 12-week recovery program and is responsible for the overview of activities and for relevant reporting.

Key Responsibilities:


• Deliver/or Coordinate evidence-based Group Programs


• Coordinate & develop a weekly program that ensures clients are meaningfully engaged with optional activities after hours


• Work with the Cook/Caretaker to ensure participants are engaged in life skills and developing employability skills, including receiving Food Handlers certificate.


• Connect with external organisations/stakeholders with established programs such as CDP or volunteers for delivery of programs to complement the client's recovery journey including health focused programs, technical skilled programs (ranging from small woodwork projects, textile skills to other skills that can be developed within the time of the participants engagement).


• Support with the Participant Registers, in terms of attendance and engagement in programs


• Work alongside Case workers to prepare and coordinate client graduations.


• Prepare Risk Assessments for group activities


• Maintain an activities equipment & resources inventory


• Undertake other duties as required by management

Salary and Conditions:

Employment Type: Part-time (18hours per week)

EA Classification Range: SCS7 - SCS8

Entitlements/Benefits: 6 Weeks Annual Leave + 2 Weeks Sick Leave + 2 Weeks Ancillary Leave + 1 RDO per Month (Pro-rata basis)

Location: This position is based at Kalano's Venndale Rehabilitation Centre, 30km from Katherine.

Hours of work: 18 hours per week [Monday to Friday | between 08:00am – 4:30pm]

The successful applicant should poses the following attributes, skills and competencies;

  • Relevant experience working within the Alcohol and other Drugs sector
  • Certificate IV in Alcohol and other Drugs or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Workplace training and assessment
  • Current First Aid
  • LR-HR Licence
  • Covid-19 and Influenza Vaccinated
  • Experience in developing programs and schedules
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills delivering individual and group work interventions including ability to manage group dynamics and behaviour.
  • Competency in the use Microsoft Office applications and other computer software programs
  • Relevant experience working with person centered practices
  • Working knowledge and/or understanding of the social determinants faced by indigenous clients and their communities
  • Working knowledge of Work, Health & Safety practices and understanding and willingness to abide by company policies
  • Willingness to undertake further training if required
  • Valid NT Drivers Licence, Valid Ochre Card, and willingness to undergo a National Police Check
