Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 per annum (commensurate with experience)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Retail Buyer to join our dynamic team and drive the growth of our jewelry retail business. The Retail Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing gemstone jewelry that reflects current market trends, aligns with our brand identity, and meets customer expectations in quality and affordability.

This role requires a balance of commercial acumen, creative trend-spotting, and strong negotiation skills to deliver the right product mix that enhances profitability and strengthens OMI En Vogue's market position.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Selection & Buying
• Source and select gemstone jewelry pieces that align with OMI En Vogue's niche market and brand vision.
• Ensure product ranges balance trend-driven styles with classic designs.
• Maintain a deep understanding of customer preferences and seasonal demands.
• Supplier & Vendor Management
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Negotiate contracts, prices, and delivery terms to achieve optimal margins.
• Evaluate supplier performance in quality, reliability, and ethical standards.
• Market & Trend Analysis
• Conduct ongoing research on jewelry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings.
• Use data, insights, and trend forecasting to guide buying decisions.
• Financial & Inventory Management
• Plan, forecast, and monitor stock levels to ensure optimal product availability.
• Work with finance and retail teams to achieve sales targets and manage budgets.
• Analyse sales reports to adjust buying strategies and minimize overstocking.
• Collaboration & Brand Alignment
• Collaborate with the marketing team on product launches, promotions, and campaigns.
• Work closely with retail staff to understand customer feedback and adapt purchasing accordingly.
• Ensure that all purchased products reflect OMI En Vogue's brand positioning of affordable luxury.

Key Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Retail Buyer within the last 5 years
• Proven ability to identify trends and translate them into commercially successful product selections.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to forecast and manage budgets.
• High attention to detail with a passion for quality and design.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Understanding of retail operations, inventory cycles, and seasonal buying strategies.
• Experience gained either in Australia or overseas will be considered.
