Role Definition
Participates in the implementation and monitoring of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs and associated policies and regulations under the direction of the Principal EHS engineer or regional Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) manager. May also serve as an experienced SME (Subject Matter Expert) on EHS projects and assignments that are more complex and enhance operational performance and compliance under the guidance of senior EHSS team members.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies safety/health/environmental risks inherent in the organization's operations and establishes guidelines for mitigation of said risks.
  • Assists in training employees on EHS guidelines, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to EHS. Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of region, division, or enterprise objectives. Identifies gaps in existing training and offers solutions to address those gaps.
  • Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Produces accurate metrics for use by the leadership for trending and information purposes. Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement.

  • Formulates health and safety plans and policies, e.g. a fire safety plan and road safety policy.

  • Controls pollution and minimizes waste of materials, energy and water within the organization.
