A little about the role ...

As our Creature Painter and Intrinsic Artist, you'll play a key part in crafting the lifelike surfaces and expressive detail that make our creatures unforgettable. You'll apply scenic painting and intrinsic silicone techniques to sculptural elements, prepare diverse materials for finish, and collaborate with sculptors, engineers, and fabricators to deliver visuals that are as durable as they are magical. Your work will be integral to creating creatures with compelling realism that stir people's imaginations and leave lasting impressions.

You could be the one if you...

• Have 7+ years of industry experience with strong foundations in creature effects and prosthetic painting

• Excel in colour theory, texture creation, and scenic painting techniques - using airbrushes, hand tools, and sponges with ease

• Can create realistic skin effects: bruising, translucence, iridescence, veins, scales, scars, pores, and aging

• Bring specialist finishes like gloss, matte, or pearlescence to simulate moisture, decay, or life

• Understand anatomy, creature design, and how skin patterns function in nature

• Demonstrate strong technical competency in materials usage and process control

• Interpret concept art to match creative vision and refine it based on feedback in creative reviews

• Thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary workshop, working with teams across sculptural, engineering, fabrication, and mechanical disciplines

• Possess a degree or training in Fine Arts, Theatrical Design, Special Effects Makeup, or Creature Painting—or equivalent professional background

Location and Hours

This is a casual position based onsite in Port Melbourne.

CTC services a global client base and occasional international travel is expected for the role.
