Primary objective

Manage the coordination of safety and quality information, including reporting of incidents and coronial matters, and coordinating key

safety and quality initiatives across NT Health. This position is a senior safety and quality administrator with clear responsibilities around

coronial, severe incident and safety and quality reporting, as well as other activities relating to high-level administrative support for the

Executive Director and the branch. The position works closely with the senior leadership of the branch and provides high-level secretariat

support to governance committees as directed.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Receive safety and quality information directed towards the NT Health and coordinate timely responses on behalf of the Chief

Executive.

2. Coordinate the coronial inquest findings process to ensure timely quality reports to Health Services, the Chief Executive and

Attorney-General.

3. Manage Department of Health complaints, incident, and coronial registers to ensure accurate consistent reporting.

4. Ensure high level of confidentiality is maintained at all times.

5. Coordinate the reporting of Incident Severity Rating 1 (ISR1) incidents and their investigation to the Chief Executive.

6. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, the NT Health and Community Services Complaints Commission and the Australian

Commission of Safety and Quality in Health Care.

7. Coordinate key NT Health safety and quality initiatives and committees at the direction of the Executive Director, Clinical Excellence

and Patient Safety.

8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to

ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated high-level expertise and experience in managing confidential information and investigations.

2. Demonstrated experience working in a highly confidential area with political awareness of the sensitivities.

3. High-level time management skills and strategies to ensure legally stipulated time frames are met.

4. Demonstrated high level of communication skills and conflict resolution skills with the ability to remain objective, empathic, and

professional always.

5. Proven knowledge and experience in the capture and reporting of recommendations using databases.

6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) area.

7. Proven ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in

Health Care.
