The Opportunity

We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support a variety of upcoming projects within our client's large-scale mining operation. This hands-on role is focused on project scoping, mechanical assessments, equipment reviews, and coordinating with project teams to ensure practical and safe project execution.

What the Role Entails

  • Assist in developing scopes of work and mechanical engineering requirements for multiple projects.
  • Conduct inspections and condition assessments of mechanical equipment, pumps, piping, tanks, materials handling systems, and rotating plant.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, datasheets, and vendor technical submissions.
  • Provide mechanical input into feasibility studies, project estimates, and constructability reviews.
  • Participate in hazard assessments, risk workshops, design reviews, and technical evaluations.
  • Support onsite construction activities, including mechanical installation checks, QA verification, and resolving technical queries.
  • Ensure all mechanical engineering work complies with Australian Standards, site engineering specifications, and safety requirements.

What You Will Need

  • Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, rotating machinery, piping systems, tanks, pumps, conveyors, and associated plant infrastructure.
  • Comfortable working in an operational processing plant with a strong safety focus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with project engineers, maintenance teams, and contractors.
  • Practical problem-solving mindset and interest in both engineering design/analysis and site-based work.
