Production Engineer

EM Solutions (EMS) is the Brisbane based growing high tech company with operations across the globe. We are world leader in the design and manufacture of "on-the-move" satellite communications terminals and believe we are an exciting, innovative workplace with a talented workforce.
We are now looking for an experienced Production Engineer with a mechanical background to join our production engineering team. The role will ensure the products and their associated assembly drawings as well as test procedures developed by engineering are clear and readily followed by manufacturing.
The role will include the following key responsibilities:
- Create/update part and assembly drawings where required
- Development of automated test fixtures and jigs to assist with the manufacturing of complex electromechanical assemblies
- Optimising the reliability, performance and scalability of our production test systems
- Work with assembly technicians in improving tooling and processes
- Fault finding on repairs and other production failures
- Assist production staff with resolving quality issues
- Make sure product testing is effective and coordinate with the engineering and projects teams on any product matters
- Work closely with design engineers to ensure they consider production constraints during development
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials
- Assist with selection and monitoring of suppliers and subcontractors
- Check that drawings and BOMs are correct
- Keep engineering change notices up to date
The ideal candidate will have to demonstrate the following core skills and competencies:
- A good understanding of metal machining and fabrication
- Ability to read and understand CAD drawings, technical plans, and work with models
- Knowledge of production processes, quality control, raw materials, as well as methods for maximizing the efficient manufacture and distribution of products
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment with demanding goals to meet output targets
- Manual dexterity with the capability to perform precision assembly, cleaning, and inspection tasks with a passion for quality outcomes
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong written communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of quality standards and their application
- Able to work autonomously and in a team environment
Qualification and Experience required:
- 3-5 years' experience working with CAD (ideally SolidWorks).
- Lean Manufacturing experience desirable
- Experience with troubleshooting complex system issues
- Minimum degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Software)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar manufacturing environment
- Experience working with a large team of people and at all levels
- Possession of, or the ability to qualify for, an Australian Defence security clearance (baseline minimum, NV1 preferred)
