About the Museum

Orange Regional Museum is a vibrant, award-winning museum located on Wiradjuri Country in the heart of Central West NSW. Through innovative exhibitions, programming, and community partnerships, the Museum shares rich and diverse stories of people and place — from deep time to the present.

With a growing collection, a dynamic team, and a strong community focus, Orange Regional Museum plays a vital role in the cultural life of Orange and the surrounding region.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Collections Manager to manage and care for the Museum's collection, oversee object movements and loans, and support public access to the collection through exhibitions and community engagement.

You will work collaboratively with Museum staff, donors, and community partners to ensure the collection is preserved, accessible, and actively used to tell the stories of our region.

In this role you will:

  • Manage and document the Museum's collection in line with national standards
  • Oversee the care, storage, conservation, and display of collection items
  • Coordinate loans and object movements for permanent and temporary exhibitions
  • Liaise with community stakeholders regarding donations and loans
  • Support public programming and community skill-building in collection care

What do you need?

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Collection Management, Museum Studies, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in managing museum collections and/or art collections
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A collaborative, community-focused approach to working within a team and with external stakeholders
