THE ROLE
This role requires an experienced and dynamic Senior Environmental Advisor to join our expanding team at ECS. This key role requires a balance between approvals document writing experience and the flexibility to assist with a variety of other environmental management tasks. This role will contribute to the delivery of high-quality environmental advisory services while also playing a pivotal role in further building the approvals and permitting function of the business.
Reporting to the Environmental Approvals Senior Manager and the Environmental Approvals Coordinator, this team member will be primarily responsible for drafting approvals and permitting applications to meet the activity scopes requested by our clients. As a Senior Advisor with 10+ years of related experience, our expectation is that this person will be experienced in authoring and delivery of documents and reports including OPPs, EPs, EIA's, Referrals and Permit applications. They should be capable of working independently and as part of a team to deliver on time and on budget.
The Senior Advisor shall assist with preparation of proposals, review of reports and applications and development of approvals strategies to meet our client's needs.
The Senior Advisor will also be given the opportunity to participate in secondary scopes of work including compliance assurance, monitoring and biosecurity inspections. Any experience in these aspects of environmental management will be viewed positively.
Technical Expertise
- Lead and contribute to complex environmental assessments, regulatory approvals, and technical reports across various sectors 
- Utilise your technical background to deliver high-quality work in a broad range of areas including, but not limited to environmental approvals, compliance assurance, environmental monitoring and reporting 
- Coordination of technical environmental assessments, authoring and/or coordination of documents and integrating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes 
- Site visits to conduct audits, inspections, or environmental monitoring. 
Task Management
- Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, budget management, and client satisfaction 
- Contribute to technical environmental assessments, authoring of documents and integrating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful outcomes 
- Manage own contributions to project scope, timelines, and resources, while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders and clients 
- Ensure quality control and consistency across project outputs 
Leadership
- Provide guidance on project challenges and support junior staff in meeting performance targets 
- Lead by example in promoting a culture of collaboration, proactivity, innovation and excellence within the team 
Business Development
- Scope and develop proposals for existing and new potential clients to expand ECS's environmental services and market presence 
- Utilise existing and new networks to develop and explore leads to new scopes and industries 
- Contribute to strategic planning by aligning opportunities and industry trends with business growth opportunities and client needs 
- Contribute to the development and improvement of ECS management systems, processes and management actions 
- Implement best practice and introduce innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness 
ABOUT YOU
You have 10+ years' experience in OPGGS, EPBC, EP Act or regulations under other jurisdictions, and a commitment to environmental sustainability and ethical practices.

REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- A tertiary degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent 
- Advanced report writing with attention for detail 
- Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills, and a desire to contribute to the team 
- A strong understanding of Microsoft software applications 
- Be flexible, efficient, and possess the desire and ability to work on multiple projects at any one time 
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
- Commitment to environmental sustainability and ethical practices 
Desirable
- 10+ years' experience in an environmental role or industry or an associated government department 
- Knowledge of the Australian marine and terrestrial environment and environmental legislation
