Primary objective

Work collaboratively in delivering high quality educational programs for senior secondary students with complex needs in

partnership with teachers, schools, families, community and professional networks to achieve optimal educational outcomes

for students.

Context statement

The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to

students, resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE also collaborates with

schools to support educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online educational programs.

School staff must be prepared to travel to urban, regional and remote schools and use advanced online technologies.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Maintain appropriate working relationships with students, families, work colleagues and external organisations whilst

maintaining confidentiality.

2. Actively participate as a team member and undertake general administrative duties as required, including data entry.

3. Support students in their learning and to navigate face to face and online learning requirements, monitor student well-

being, their academic progress and Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training pattern completion.

4. Prioritise and perform work tasks, with limited supervision and in a reliable manner, whilst adhering to school and

Department of Education and Training policies in an environment of ongoing change and competing priorities.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Successful experience working with students using online platforms and experience in working with students with

complex and additional needs.

2. Experience in managing and meeting timeframes in a dynamic and changing environment.

3. Demonstrated strong work ethic, which includes the use of initiative, flexibility, sound judgement skills and

understanding of confidentiality and security as it relates to this position.

1. Well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, work with minimal

direction, determine work priorities, organise workflow and meet deadlines and work as part of a team.

1. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse cultures.

Desirable

1. Qualifications or ability to obtain qualifications related to supporting students in alternative educational settings.
