Primary objective
Provide day to day management, supervision, and high-level support for sporting programs and identified athletes at Katherine
High School. Provide support and program delivery for the Katherine HS Flexible learning centre. Contribute to management of
procurement, general administration and infrastructure advice related to the KHS Sports Academy. Support teaching staff in the
delivery of key sporting programs throughout the school year.
Context statement
Katherine High School is the only government secondary school in Katherine. It provides an educational service to students from
Year 7 to Year 12. In the Senior Years students are provided with multiple achievement pathways to ensure they receive the
education most appropriate to their needs. The school caters to a diverse population from a range of different social, educational
and cultural backgrounds. Katherine High School has an offsite program, Katherine Flexible Learning and Engagement Centre and
provides an alternate program for disengaged and at-risk teenagers in the Katherine area. The school takes great pride in its

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide day to day management and overall supervision of the KHS Sports Academy programs, including the provision of
procurement of fixture and fittings, financial management and where requested, support services for the school staff.
- Work with staff to identify and support talented athletes through KHS initiated programs and via external programs led by key
stakeholders.
3. Liaise with external stakeholders to support and develop programs which promote physical and mental health and wellbeing of
students.
4. Support the financial management of Academy activities by seeking and applying for grant programs which support groups of
students and where applicable, individual athletes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level interpersonal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective networks
with a range of internal and external stakeholders and interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
- Demonstrated experience working with students and support programs to promote physical education and participation in
sport.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing athletes and supporting training programs which create an environment
of high performance.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the role of health and wellbeing programs in supporting the mental and physical health of young
people.
5. Desire and capacity to contribute to the Katherine High School community by promoting it's values of Inclusion, Respect, Effort
and Resilience.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the Educational Services (Schools) General Award.
2. Knowledge of the operations of the Department or ability to learn these in a timely manner.
