Are you ready to champion ethical standards in Queensland Corrective Services (QCS)? We're seeking a Director of Ethical Standards – Assessment and Intelligence Group to lead our ethics strategy, ensure compliance with legislative requirements, and drive a culture of integrity.

Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in all our operations. We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader for the role of Director of Ethical Standards - Assessment and Intelligence Group. This pivotal position is responsible for developing and implementing QCS' ethical standards strategy, ensuring compliance with the Public Sector Ethics Act 1994 and Crime and Corruption Act 2001, and nurturing a culture of integrity throughout the organisation.

As the Director, you will report to the Assistant Commissioner, PSGC, and work closely with the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, other senior management, and QCS staff. Your role will be essential in delivering a proactive, intelligence-led and prevention-focused ethical standards function for QCS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage QCS' ethical standards education, advice, and assessment functions, ensuring activities align with legislation, best practice, and the highest levels of probity.
  • Design and deliver programs to enhance leadership and management capability in ethics and performance/conduct management.
  • Develop programs to improve ethical culture and decision-making across QCS.
  • Consult, negotiate, and advise executive management and key stakeholders on ethical matters.
  • Prepare and submit reports and advice on serious workplace conduct.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Undertake additional duties as required.

About You

  • Extensive experience in directing and managing complex ethical issues, providing specialist advice, and handling inquiries and investigations.
  • Proven leadership expertise and experience in team management, with knowledge of contemporary HR practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for negotiating with stakeholders on sensitive and complex issues.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures to guide operational guidelines and mitigate agency risk.
  • Advanced analytical skills for evaluating and improving policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to prepare complex reports, briefings, and policy papers.
